Who runs Best Oil Diffuser
This site is published by Scentech V.O.F., a partnership registered in the Netherlands at Buitenhaven 65, 5211 TR 's-Hertogenbosch, Chamber of Commerce number 95312048, VAT number NL867082719B01. Scentech makes and sells the Smart Aroma Diffuser, the Smart Aroma Diffuser 2 and the Smart Aroma Diffuser Pro — the two machines that come first and second in our ranking. There is no agency, no network and no third party in between, because there is no third party at all.
That is an unusual arrangement for a comparison page, so it is stated at the top of every page and again in the footer: this is an advertisement feature. Orders placed at getscentech.com through a link here are attributed to this site, so the ranking and the scores are not independent, and we never describe them as such.
Why a pod-diffuser company writes about essential oil diffusers
Because the questions people ask before buying are answerable, and because the honest answer is sometimes a machine we do not make. How many square metres does one cover? How loud is it? What does a millilitre of oil cost, and how many millilitres does it get through? Those figures are either printed on a specification table or they are not, and where they are not, saying so is more useful than filling the gap with an adjective.
Our own products are pod machines. They take Scentech's blended fragrance oil and nothing else, and they will never take the bottle of lavender in your kitchen drawer. Five of the seven models we rank are ordinary essential oil diffusers that will. Both facts are on the page in the same size of type, because a guide that hid the second one would not be worth writing.
So we set ourselves three limits. Every number comes from a manufacturer's specification table, a retailer's product page or a public review platform, and carries the date it was read. Every product in the ranking, ours included, gets at least two real drawbacks. And where a figure is missing — coverage, noise, consumption per hour — the entry says "not stated" rather than guessing.
How the ranking is made
Each model is scored out of ten against six weighted criteria: stated coverage, what the oil costs and how refilling works, noise, control, maintenance and the size of the public review base. The weights, the sources and the things we deliberately did not do are set out in full on How we compare. We ran no laboratory test, took no measurements and had none of the competing machines in the house; where a competitor's page carries a customer review we quote it verbatim, dated and attributed, including the critical ones.
Scentech prices appear in pounds because the shop converts its euro prices at checkout. They move with the exchange rate, so each one carries the month it was read instead of being presented as a fixed UK price.
